The Team .
We are a transdisciplinary research team where expertise from social science, humanities (art), and environmental science are combined to create disruptive climate change communication to trigger necessary societal transitions.
Erica Löfström
Dr Researcher Radical Innovation for Sustainable Futures, NTNU & Project Manager
Erica Löfström is a researcher in environmental psychology and computer science. She works with innovation for sustainable futures and specializes in eco-visualization, provotyping and the design of new solutions as part of participatory processes. NIYF builds on Löfströms initial ideas, and she is now the NIYF coordinator and Primary Investigator.
Christian A. Klöckner
Professor NTNU Department of Psychology & Project Co-Manager
Christian A. Klöckner is a professor in psychology researching environmental action and environmental communication. In NIYF, he is co-leading the project with Erica Löfström.
Kristoffer S. Fjællingsdal
Dr Researcher, NTNU,
Kristoffer S. Fjællingsdal is employed as a postdoctoral research fellow in the NIYF project. He holds a PhD in environmental psychology, and conducts research within fields such as eco-visualization, the interplay between humans and nature, qualitative approaches to sustainability learning, creative educational approaches to climate change, as well as serious environmental games.
Andrew Perkis
Professor in Electronic Systems NTNU, Chair ARTEC & internal expert collaborator
Andrew Perkis is a professor at the Department of Electronic Systems, NTNU and chair of ARTEC, a task force for setting up directions and visions for new research within art and technology as well as directions for innovations in Immersive Media Technology Experiences. His role in NIYF is to contribute to things related to the the eco-visualizations.
Ole Jørgen Hanssen
Professor in Renewables and CE NMBU Founder Researcher at NORSUS
Ole Jørgen is an ecologist and has worked with the Ministry of Environment. He was one of the initiators of Ostfold Research (now NORSUS) and the institutes first employee. He was institute leader for Preventive environmental protection, leader of the LCA team, managing director of Ostfold Research, senior researcher, and research manager. He was the initiator and leader of NorEnviro (Norwegian center for LCA data) until 2021. Ole Jørgen defended his Dr. techn. Thesis at NTNU in 1997 and from 1997-2004 he was professor II in Industrial Ecology and Eco-design at NTNU. He was a member of the committee for Strategic Research on Sustainable Energy and Environment at the Danish Innovation Fund from 2009-2014. Ole Jørgen has been a part-time professor of Renewable Energy and Circular Economy at the Norwegian University of Life Science (NMBU) from 2010 until August 2022, teaching in LCA and circular economy. In the NIYF project, Ole Jørgen leads WP3 and WP4. He is most involved in the plastic- and the mobility case.
Anne Rønning
Senior Researcher at NORSUS Norsk institutt for bærekraftsforskning
Anne Rønning is senior researcher at NORSUS and coordinator for research related to buildings and civil engineering work. She manages and participates in research projects in diverse empirical fields. Her major research areas are within the use and development of life cycle assessment (LCA) in several empirical fields. In NIYF, she works with calculating the carbon footprint and project impact for the project cases.

The Case Leaders .
In Nature In Your Face, we have four distinguished Case Leaders. Their role in the project is to work closely with the researchers in developing, planning and marketing events, and to carry out the work in their dedicated case. They also support and give advice to the other project case leaders and valuable input regarding the project as a whole.
Ingunn Strand
Case Leader NIYF on Plastic Neutrality
Ingunn Strand represents Kristiansund Municipality in the project. She is the leader and main contact person for the NIYF Plastic Neutrality case in Kristiansund. She is a communication advisor and works closely with NTNU and the other partners with project communication and other project activities.
Katrine Aalstad
Case Leader NIYF Housing
Katrine Aalstad is a communication leader with societal responsibility at Nordbolig. She is responsible for the Nordbolig sustainability work, including the groups involvement in various research projects. She leads the NIYF Housing case, which fits with the group’s ambition to build neighborhoods that look after both people and the environment better.
Mona Nilsen
Case leader NIYF Food
Mona Nilsen is a senior advisor for Climate and Energy at Viken County Municipality. She is an experienced researcher who has worked as a senior advisor at Norsus. Her role in the Food case is to manage and coordinate the work in the food case together with the other researchers, partners and other cooperators.
Jøran Solli
Case leader NIYF Mobility
Jøran Solli is a climate advisor at Trondheim Municipality, department of Climate and Environment. He leads the NIYF case on mobility, contributing with project data and coordinating relevant climate activities and measures in relation to the eco-visualizations and vision workshops.

Frances Sprei
Associate professor in Sustainable Mobility Chalmers University of Technology
Frances Sprei is an Associate Professor in Sustainable Mobility. Her research is interdisciplinary and has the ambition to shift people to more sustainable mobility patterns. Nature in Your Face allows her to explore more innovative ways to achieve the desired changes.
Wander Jager
Dr Researcher, Agent Based Modelling Expert, University College Groningen
Wander Jager is studying and teaching societal dynamics from a complexity perspective. He is interested in transitional dynamics related to food, energy, transportation and urban development.
Kelly Fielding
Professor in Environmental Psychology, University of Queensland
Kelly Fielding is a Professor of environmental psychology in the School of Communication and Arts at the University of Queensland. Her research ranges across environmental issues, from sustainable urban water management, to climate change communication, to biodiversity and conservation.
Ellen Matthies
Professor in Environmental Psychology University of Magdeburg
Ellen Matthies has been professor for environmental psychology at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg since December 2011. Her research group in Magdeburg focuses on the many roles of individuals in a transformation process towards a sustainable society. Most of the current research projects are inter- and transdisciplinary, ranging from analyses of individual acceptance of policy measures, via cognitive biases in consumption decisions to investigations of the relation between wellbeing and individual support of the transformation.
John Fraser

John Fraser is a conservation psychologist, architect, and educator serving as President and CEO of Knology, a social science research institute in New York, USA. Fraser’s research focuses on how social affiliation and group relationships motivate action for social change. Dr. Fraser is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association [APA], a past president of APA Division 34; Society for Environment, Population, and Conservation Psychology, Editor of Curator: The Museum Journal, founding editorial board member for Museums & Social Issues, and Springer Nature / Knology Psychology and Our Planet Book Series Editor.
